Riverwatch Projects

Riverwatch has been, and continues to be, involved with many projects to improve the health of the Shoalhaven River.
Many of these projects have been possible through Federal, State and Local government funding as well as contributions from local Shoalhaven businesses.  However the on-ground work and behind the scenes management would not be possible without the considerable help from our Riverwatch volunteers.  Without our volunteers, Riverwatch would not exist.

Our major focus has been to improve the stability of riverbanks by undertaking Bank Restoration work using a number of different techniques.

Funding has also been obtained to undertake a number of River Studies as input to State and Local Government to adopt a comprehensive Strategic Management Plan for the Shoalhaven River to cater for all commercial, recreational interests while protecting and improving the environmental health of our River.  Such a Plan would increase tourism to the region by aligning commercial operations, such as tourist accommodation & River access, to active and passive water activities.  Such a Plan remains our top priority and the concept has been well received by both our local Federal and State political representatives.

Other projects that Riverwatch has been involved included Floodgate Design, Publications and River Clean Up campaigns.
